The Golden Sombrero’s Top 50 Prospects: #43 – Brett Jackson (Video)
#43 Brett Jackson – Chicago Cubs
OF
DOB: 8-2-88
ETA: 2012
The 21-year old Jackson is one of the most athletic players in MiLB, and projects as an everyday CF in the bigs. He was able to reach Double-A in 2010 after being drafted 31st overall in 2009 out of Cal-Berkeley. At Double-A he was able to slash .276/.366/.465 with 25 hits for extra bases in 228 AB’s. Known as a speedster, Jackson stole a combined 30 bases between his two stops in 2010. More importantly, he has demonstrated advanced plate discipline that will allow his bat to stay in the top of most orders and certainly for the Cubs. While his power is still developing, Jackson went for extra bases an average of once every 10 at bats in 2010, and as he grows more and more accustomed to wood, a handful of 20-jack seasons may be possible.
