The Baseball Show with guest Gar Ryness (Batting Stance Guy)
Tonight on The Baseball Show, co-host Clint Evans[Diamond Hoggers] and I interviewed Batting Stance Guy. Just as we anticipated, he offered tons of great stories and was absolutely hilarious. Clint and I thought that we loved the game of baseball more than anyone in this world until we had the chance to talk to BSG.
Topics included:
-His favorite player Kent Hrbek
-How his ‘talent’ came about
-The story behind his faithful “wiffle” bat
-A great story about Joe Mauer
-Derek Jeter & Josh Beckett giving him a hard time
-We talk about those State Farm Insurance commercials with Carlos Quentin
-Joey Votto’s dismount and other players with great dismounts
-His stances to look out for in this World Series
-His thoughts on Brandon Phillips’ ‘pinata swing’
-MANY MORE LAUGHS!
You can follow Batting Stance Guy on Twitter and be sure to get his book Batting Stance Guy: A Love Letter to Baseball. After reading it, I can honestly say that it is a must read for any passionate baseball fan.
Around The League: Thoughts on our interview with Matt Sosnick
In case you missed it last night on The Baseball Show, Clint and I spent an hour talking with MLB agent Matt Sosnick from Sosnick Cobbe Sports. We discussed the rise and fall of Dontrelle Willis, sports agency as a profession, Matt’s experiences in Major League Baseball, stories about his clients, Josh Willingham and Ricky Nolasco’s off-season contract negotiations, why Adam Dunn can’t find a permanent home, and a lot of interesting stuff in between.
Here is what the baseball world is saying the day after our interview:

The Baseball Show: Heartbreak Hotel
Today on The Baseball Show, I had no other choice but to console Clint after his Reds heartbreaking defeat last night in Philly. Don’t worry, he comes around as the show progresses. You can follow Clint & Diamond Hoggers on Twitter here.
As painful as our first discussion was regarding the Reds/Phillies series, we managed to work in plenty of quality baseball talk today:
-Full reaction and heartbreak of Game 2 last night between the Phillies and Reds
-Braves & Giants breakdown
-Preview of today’s ALDS games
-Guest appearances by Delino DeShields, Mark Prior, Brad Fulmer and Matt Holliday’s groin.
Great Pitching Dominates the Start of the MLB Playoffs
After six long months and 162 grueling games (not including spring training) the Major League Baseball playoffs are finally once again upon us. The competition has been whittled away to the cream of the crop and now only the guys who have strung together enough consistency, heart, and luck over the last half year are facing off head to head. Only one more month watching baseball and then it’s on to basketball season and things have already gotten off to a hot start.
First of all, big ups to Philadelphia Philly Roy Halladay. The guy hurled his second no hitter of the season and the first playoff no-no since Don Larsen’s perfect game in the 1956 World Series. Mercenary ace Cliff Lee also showed up and did his thing in game one for the Rangers against Tampa Bay. Lee gave up only one run in seven innings and struck out ten batters. These were then followed up on Thursday night with Tim Lincecum’s two hit, fourteen K performance in the Giants opening game against the NL wild card Atlanta Braves. Viva la smallball!
