Memories of Kyle Farnsworth (Video)

As Kyle Farnsworth trotted towards the mound to replace an injured Billy Wagner in the bottom of the 10th, it appeared that the Braves were conceding the game, as well as the series.  I’ve followed the guy since his earliest days on the Cubs; I even waited in line for his autograph at the Cubs Convention when I was 12.  I know what you’re wondering, yes I still have it…right next to my autographed Corey Patterson min-bat.  No, really. I’m serious.

It was also at that same Cubs Convention that I witnessed Kyle Farnsworth at his finest, absolutely hammered, dancing on stage with some teammates — who didn’t appear all that drunk — and being carried back to his hotel room by two security guards.  Since then, I have been unable to take Farnsworth seriously, at all.  Let’s be real, the glasses, tattoos and jewelry don’t really help his case either.

Texas Rangers Drop Bombs…F-Bombs (Video)

In the top of the 5th inning in Game 2 of the ALDS between the Rangers and Rays, Michael Young checked his swing on a 2-2 pitch(yes, we all know that he went) before connecting for a 3-R HR on the next pitch from Dan Wheeler.  While there will undoubtedly be an ongoing argument for instant replay after we are beaten senseless with the slow-mo replay of Young’s swing, there will be little talk regarding the Rangers profanity-laced, dugout celebration.

Is Roy Halladay’s no-hitter really that surprising? (Video)

In baseball, the term “sure thing” is one that is seldom used, especially when predicting the success of a pitcher.  However, after Roy Halladay’s no-hitter against the Cincinnati Reds on Wednesday afternoon, we all need to seriously consider whether he is worthy of such a label.

What else can be said about Roy Halladay? This is what he does.  Each and every time that he takes the mound, everyone that is either involved in or watching the game almost assumes that Halladay will be…well, Roy Halladay.

David Ortiz attempts to bunt, Ozzie Guillen amused (Video)

On Wednesday night, David Ortiz thought he was being sneaky when he attempted to bunt for hit against Freddy Garcia and the Chicago White Sox.  With the shift on like usual against the lefthanded slugger, Ortiz dropped down a bunt that landed next to Garcia, who fielded the ball cleanly and easily threw out Big Papi at first base.  While Garcia chuckled after the play, manager Ozzie Guillen simply could not contain himself:

Jay Bruce: The Man, The Myth, The Legend (Video)

Congratulations to Jay Bruce and the Cincinnati Reds for clinching the 2010 National League Central in a most dramatic fashion. Tied at 2-2 against the Houston Astros, Bruce lead off the bottom of the 9th and wasted no time, depositing the first pitch from reliever Tim Byrdak over the centerfield fence. Here are the videos of Bruce’s historic homerun and the Reds locker room celebration:
