Around The League: Gordon Beckham; Adam Dunn; Berkman; Hall of Fame

Adam Dunn, who was signed by Chicago White Sox last Thursday, was officially introduced to the media this past weekend. [MLB]

This afternoon, news surfaced that the Chicago White Sox had offered a “runner-up” package, centered around Gordon Beckham, to the Boston Red Sox in exchange for slugger Adrian Gonzalez.  Um, wow.  [HardballTalk]

Around The League: Adam Dunn’s arrival, Ron Santo’s legacy, Milledge non-tendered, and more…

  • As a Chicago White Sox fan, I am still in total shock over the signing of Adam Dunn, as well as the re-signing of A.J. Pierzynski.  What makes the news even better is the fact that they both accepted back loaded contracts so that the organization may still potentially re-sign Paul Konerko.  Furthermore, it appears that Kenny Williams and the White Sox are finally shaking up the bullpen after non-tendering Bobby Jenks and trading Scott Linebrink. [Scott Merkin]
  • The baseball world lost a true legend this week, as Ron Santo passed away at 70-years of age.  His lasting impact on the game, the Chicago Cubs organization, and city of Chicago goes above and beyond anything that you will read in a newspaper or on a blog.  Ron Santo will forever be at the heart of Chicago Cubs baseball and he will be sorely missed.  Thanks for all the great memories, Ronnie. Chicago White Sox News: Adam Dunn, Paul Konerko/Orioles, Alexei Ramirez, and Bobby Jenks

Chicago White Sox News:

According to Jerry Crasnick’s Twitter, “The Chicago White Sox have jumped in on free agent Adam Dunn, according to sources. Kenny Williams’ interest appears serious.”  He continued, “A lot depends on what happens with Paul Konerko. But the Sox need a bat, & they previously made a run at Dunn in July.” [@JCrasnick]

Along those same lines, Jon Paul Morosi believes that signing Adam Dunn would cost the White Sox one of their icons: Konerko or Mark Buehrle.  It’s important to note that Buehrle is the only one of those players that is under team control. [Fox Sports]

MLB Look-alikes: Carlos Quentin and State Farm Insurance Guy

The Golden Sombrero presents MLB Look-alikes: Carlos Quentin and State Farm Insurance Guy

Ok, so I know that I wrote about this disturbing, aesthetic similarity way back in August, but it’s time that it is officially added to the collection.
