Andres Torres wears golden sombrero in Game 2 of NLCS

On Sunday night, San Francisco Giants center fielder Andres Torres became the first player in the 2010 postseason to notch a golden sombrero. For those out there who are unfamiliar with such terminology, a golden sombrero is the illustrious four-strikeout game.

Torres, who is no stranger to the sombrero, struck out against Philadelphia Phillies starter Roy Oswalt in each of his four plate appearances in Game 2, which Philadelphia ultimately won 6-1. In his first three at bats, Torres was blown away by Oswalt’s overpowering fastball; in his final at bat, Oswalt dropped a nasty, backdoor curve on the Giants leadoff hitter, making the sombrero official.

Of Oswalt’s nine strikeouts in the game, Torres was responsible for four of them.
