Tampa Bay Rays Prospect Matt Moore (Video)

Here is a video of prospect Matt Moore, a pitcher for the Tampa Bay Rays.  As you can plainly see, Moore is devastating and would be the top pitching prospect in almost any other organization.  Moore is of particular interest to me due to his New Mexican roots.

Moore hails from Moriarty, the same community Kyle Blanks of the Padres grew up.  They tend to produce excellent baseball players in Moriarty despite their small size and relative isolation.  Moore had an older cousin who graduated the same year that I did and spent a large percentage of his collegiate career as the second-best lefty in the University of New Mexico rotation behind the legendary Danny Ray Herrera.

Matt projects as a #2 starter in the Major Leagues(at worst) and has excellent tools.  He led the Minors in strikeouts and misses bats at a frenzied pace. Control issues exist, but the arm speed and handedness make for a future ace.  Enjoy this comically accurate video of what makes Moore a special talent and a New Mexican we can be proud to root for.
