Brett Jackson Takes Batting Practice (Video)

Both the Chicago Cubs and their fans have a lot to look forward to in 22-year old outfielder, Brett Jackson.  Since being drafted 31st overall by the Cubs in the 2009 MLB Amateur Draft, Jackson has rapidly ascended through the minor leagues thanks to a combination of power and speed.  Baseball America ranked him as the 74th best prospect in all of baseball prior to the 2010 season, and needless to say, Jackson exceeded the expectations.

In 2010, while splitting time between High-A Daytona and Double-A Tennessee, Jackson hit .297/.395/.493 with 32 doubles, 14 triples, 12 home runs, and 66 RBI in 491 at-bats; he swiped 30 bases in 41 attempts.  Although there is a lot to like about Jackson’s .888 OPS in just his second Minor League season, his 126 strikeouts suggest that he still has a ways to go in terms of his plate discipline and strike zone recognition.
