The White Sox are willing to hear offers for RHP Gavin Floyd…..would expect a substantial return considering Floyd is a proven 2^nd or 3^rd starter…..Floyd made 31 starts for White Sox in 2010 and went 10-13 with a 4.08 ERA…..had a career best 49% groundball rate…..was 3-1 with a 0.80 ERA and 1.04 WHIP in July. As we have already mentioned on this site, the selections for the Gold Glove were confusing.  With guys like Jeter winning this once prestigious award, it may be best to now consider it completely meaningless.  What a joke.  Papi’s option was picked up and will inevitably be regarded as a gross overpayment.  This is the one that baffles me, though: Cliff Lee is asking for 7 years at over $160 million.  What?  This guy is 32.

With just a few hours remaining before the start of tonight’s opening game of the National League Championship Series between the Philadelphia Phillies and the San Francisco Giants, baseball fans are anticipating one of the greatest pitching matchups in postseason history: Tim Lincecum vs. Roy Halladay.  The Freak vs. Doc.  The youngster vs. the veteran.
