Golden Sombrero: Shelly Duncan

Top 2: Shelly Duncan struck out swinging against Madison Bumgarner

Top 4: Duncan struck out swinging against Bumgarner

Top 7: Duncan struck out swinging against Bumgarner

Top 9: Duncan struck out swinging against Jeremy Affeldt

Final Line: 0-for-4, 4 K

Notes: I guess he’s the Tribe’s best option in RF with Choo out. I guess.

Total 2011 Sombreros: 53

Golden Sombrero: Grady Sizemore (No. 3)

Bottom 1: Grady Sizemore struck out swinging against Jeff Karstens

Bottom 2: Sizemore struck out swinging against Karstens

Bottom 5: Sizemore struck out swinging against Karstens

Bottom 7: Sizemore grounded out to short against Karstens

Bottom 10: Sizemore struck out swinging against Tony Watson

Final Line: 0-for-5, 4 K

Notes: I somehow overlooked this one last week when reporting sombreros.  Like so many sombreros, Sizemore’s third of the 2011 season came in an extra-inning affair on the 19th against the Pirates.

Total 2011 Sombreros: 47

MLB Look-alikes: Orlando Cabrera and Mark Teich

The Golden Sombrero presents MLB Look-alikes: Orlando Cabrera and Mark Teich

Who’s Mark Teich? You may know him as the balding comedic sidekick in Stephen Lynch’s act. And if that doesn’t help, just watch this video and thank me later:

Golden Sombrero: Grady Sizemore (again)

Top 1: Grady Sizemore called out on strikes against Justin Verlander

Top 3: Sizemore struck out swinging against Verlander

Top 6: Sizemore called out on strikes against Verlander

Top 9: Sizemore struck out swinging against Verlander

Final Line: 0-4, 4 K

Notes: Not too much to point out here beyond the obvious domination by Verlander, who flirted with a no-no and fired a two-hit shutout against the Tribe on Tuesday.  The sombrero was Sizemore’s second of the season (and second since being activated from the DL), and I think it’s a safe assumption that we’ll see a few more from him this season. Go get ’em, Grady.

Total 2011 Sombreros: 42

Golden Sombrero: Grady Sizemore

Top 2: Grady Sizemore struck out swinging against Jeremy Hellickson

Top 4: Sizemore struck out swinging against Hellickson

Top 7: Sizemore struck out swinging against Hellickson

Top 9: Sizemore called out on strikes against Cesar Ramos

Final Line: 0-for-4, 4 K

Notes: Still looking to find his groove since retuning from the DL, Sizemore struggled to put the ball in play against Hellickson and the Rays’ bullpen.  His sombrero highlighted a tough day for the Tribe’s bats, as they only mustered five hits in the contest and were shut out.

Total 2011 Sombreros: 34
