{"id":893,"date":"2010-09-05T23:32:55","date_gmt":"2010-09-06T04:32:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/thegoldensombrero.com\/wordpress\/?p=893"},"modified":"2010-09-06T00:56:18","modified_gmt":"2010-09-06T05:56:18","slug":"marlins-logan-morrison-escapes-serious-injury-after-scary-moment-video","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/thegoldensombrero.com\/wordpress\/archives\/893","title":{"rendered":"Marlins Logan Morrison escapes serious injury after scary moment (Video)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/thegoldensombrero.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/morrisoninj_534957c.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-894\" title=\"morrisoninj_534957c\" src=\"http:\/\/thegoldensombrero.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/morrisoninj_534957c-300x187.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"187\" srcset=\"http:\/\/thegoldensombrero.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/morrisoninj_534957c-300x187.jpg 300w, http:\/\/thegoldensombrero.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/morrisoninj_534957c.jpg 619w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>For anyone who has ever played serious baseball, it is common knowledge that when in the on-deck circle, it is important to always be paying close attention as a pitch is delivered.\u00a0 As a hitter, not only should you be attempting to time the pitcher\u2019s release point, but you also should be paying close attention to avoid serious injury on a sharp foul ball.<\/p>\n<p>However, even when paying attention, an on-deck hitter is still susceptible to being drilled by a foul ball- just ask former Cardinals\u2019 outfielder <strong>Juan Encarnacion<\/strong>.\u00a0 In late August of 2007, Encarnacion was struck in the left-eye socket by a foul ball off the bat of teammate Aaron Miles- an injury that ultimately <a href=\"http:\/\/nbcsports.msnbc.com\/id\/20540357\/\">ended Encarnacion\u2019s career<\/a> and that has been described by Cardinals\u2019 medical director Dr. George Paletta as, \u201cThe worst trauma I\u2019ve seen.
