Prospects are like new car smell. They\u2019re exciting and intoxicating. They make it seem like your favorite team is about to turn the corner.<\/p>\n

With prospect analysis and news having penetrated every corner of the Internet, it\u2019s hard not to get carried away with prospect love. I can\u2019t imagine how many tweets Kevin Goldstein<\/a> and Keith Law<\/a> have to see every day asking if Team X\u2019s third- and fifth-best prospects would be enough to score Felix Hernandez<\/a>.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s prospect-mania out there. I\u2019m guilty of it. I sponsor Brandon Wood<\/a>\u2019s Baseball-Reference page, and I\u2019m no longer hopeful that it will fund my retirement plan.<\/p>\n
