–\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Another Yankees vs. Red Sox series got underway last night\u2026yawn.\u00a0 At least there was a little bit of tension after Francisco Cervelli<\/a><\/strong>\u2019s (weak) celebration of his own homerun.\u00a0 But other than that, what is the point of so many meaningless games for these two teams down the stretch Bud Selig?<\/p>\n

–\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 How cool would it be to play for Joe Maddon?\u00a0 The guy used to go to elementary school with Julius Caesar, supports awesome Rays fashion wear<\/a> , and is a leading man in the case of using crunched numbers (to give his team the best chance of winning).\u00a0 Is he baseball\u2019s Phil Jackson?<\/p>\n

–\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Why does MLB not care about exciting pennant races?\u00a0 Here\u2019s a great article by Rob Neyer<\/a> over at SB Nation.<\/p>\n

–\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 I can\u2019t seem to understand why so many people hate the Mets blue and black unis.\u00a0 Not the \u201cLos Mets\u201d ones, these<\/a>.\u00a0 They seem to be fitting for a team who is getting beat day after day.<\/p>\n

–\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Matt LaPorta<\/a><\/strong> is being sent back down to the minors.\u00a0 Is anyone surprised anymore?<\/p>\n

–\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 How about Alex Gordon<\/a><\/strong>?\u00a0 After being the 2nd<\/sup> overall pick of his draft class, and not living up to people\u2019s ridiculous hype, he has finally hit his stride as a ball player.\u00a0 It is my personal opinion that maybe if the Royals had pulled their heads out and given him enough regular AB\u2019s with the big club this probably would have happened sooner.\u00a0 Just look at his Triple-A numbers.<\/p>\n

–\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 I have become discouraged with youth baseball over the last couple seasons.\u00a0 I am sick and tired of watching 11-year-old kids quit all other fall sports to play baseball year round.\u00a0 I find it extremely frustrating and detrimental.\u00a0 It not only limits a child\u2019s athletic development, but it deprives them of experiencing different aspects of sport and what it offers.\u00a0 This idea is probably best reserved for an entire article of its own and most likely will find its way to the Sombrero very soon.\u00a0 Just wanted to vent my frustrations.<\/p>\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
