Lefty pitchers are baseball\u2019s equivalent of kickers in the NFL.\u00a0 They are just a little bit different.\u00a0 However, because we lefties are such a minority in the realm of baseball, it allows us to provide the rest of you with a unique perspective on the game.\u00a0 Since I have this special ability to provide a different look, I will be giving that to you each and every day.\u00a0 So, without further ado, here is the first ever issue of \u201cChangeups and Screwballs: A Southpaw\u2019s Perspective.\u201d<\/p>\n

–\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 While it may not be the most honorable reaction, I was thrilled to find out that Bryce Harper<\/a><\/strong>\u2019s season was ended early<\/a> due to a hamstring issue.\u00a0 I suppose that is what happens when you decide to run hard for a full 90 feet.<\/p>\n

–\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Seeing Joe Mauer<\/a><\/strong> play right field made me laugh.\u00a0 Any coach that is worth his paycheck could probably teach a monkey to play a corner outfield spot.\u00a0 Mauer looked like a natural by the third fly ball he caught.<\/p>\n

–\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Watching A-Rod make a nice barehanded run-through play to get Ben Revere<\/a><\/strong> out on Sunday makes me think he will be just fine post surgery.\u00a0 Did you realize that he is already 36?<\/p>\n

–\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Big ups to Jered Weaver<\/a><\/strong> on that healthy new contract.\u00a0 Here\u2019s hoping that he turns out to be more like Cliff Lee<\/a><\/strong> or C.C. Sabathia<\/a><\/strong>, and does not turn in to John Lackey<\/a><\/strong> or A.J. Burnett<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

–\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 It finally appears that someone really does want to win the A.L. Central.\u00a0 The way the Tigers beat down Cleveland, coupled with Justin Verlander<\/a><\/strong> leading that staff, leads me to believe that they will find themselves in the ALCS.\u00a0 Just don\u2019t let Miggy have any champagne.<\/p>\n

–\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Even though the Astros have the worst record in the bigs, I still believe that they are only the second worse team in the league.\u00a0 The Cubs are pathetic.<\/p>\n

–\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 I am so happy that my Astros will be getting the first overall pick next June.\u00a0 I have to find some sort of light at the end of this tunnel.<\/p>\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
