Recently I mentioned Archie Bradley\u2019s current ranking<\/a> as the third-best prep pitching prospect in this June\u2019s draft, behind Dylan Bundy of Owasso (OK) and Taylor Guerrieri of South Carolina\u2019s North Augusta.\u00a0 Let\u2019s look a little more closely at these two young flamethrowers as the prep season approaches the postseason.<\/p>\n

Dylan Bundy, RHP, Owasso High School (OK) <\/strong><\/p>\n

Bundy is a hyper-athletic right-hander from Oklahoma committed to the University of Texas.\u00a0 He has been up to 98 mph this season on the gun with outstanding fastball command and sink.\u00a0 His curveball is off the charts and already can flash double-plus.\u00a0 He has unusual polish for even the best prep pitchers and has a realistic chance of debuting before he can legally drink if he signs relatively soon after the draft.\u00a0 That probably is wishful thinking, however, because whoever drafts Bundy will have to cough up a great deal of money.<\/p>\n

\nThe University of Texas currently has Bundy, Blake Swihart, and Josh Bell signed, and probably stands to lose all three by the end of the summer, as well as current ace Taylor Jungmann.<\/p>\n

Taylor Guerrieri, RHP, Spring Valley High School (GA)<\/strong><\/p>\n

While we are on the topic of signability, let\u2019s discuss Guerrieri.\u00a0 While he certainly lacks the polish and secondary stuff that Bundy displays, he might have a little more velocity currently with a chance at triple-digits in the future.\u00a0 Guerrieri has a more projectable frame than Bundy but lacks some of the athleticism, which is less a knock on Guerrieri than it is a compliment to Bundy.<\/p>\n

<\/param><\/param><\/param><\/embed><\/object><\/center><\/p>\n

Guerrieri might have the best three-pitch arsenal of any high school pitcher in the draft: a changeup that shows excellent fade and sits anywhere from 80 to 84 mph, and an average to plus breaker that reaches the mid-80s.\u00a0 He shows advanced feel for both secondary offerings and is going to be the cheaper sign of these two aces.\u00a0 Guerrieri might climb up the draft boards of a number of teams strapped for cash who are still looking to sink their teeth into this draft class\u2019s tremendous upside and depth.\u00a0 There really is no going wrong with either of these guys or Archie Bradley.
