{"id":3568,"date":"2011-04-12T08:15:47","date_gmt":"2011-04-12T13:15:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/thegoldensombrero.com\/wordpress\/?p=3568"},"modified":"2011-04-12T04:00:50","modified_gmt":"2011-04-12T09:00:50","slug":"poll-sam-fuld-nicknames","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/thegoldensombrero.com\/wordpress\/archives\/3568","title":{"rendered":"Poll: Sam Fuld Nicknames"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/thegoldensombrero.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/FuldFacePlant.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-3569\" title=\"FuldFacePlant\" src=\"http:\/\/thegoldensombrero.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/FuldFacePlant-300x208.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"363\" height=\"251\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Over the last couple of days, Sam Fuld has been going absolutely nuts on the baseball field.\u00a0 To his credit, he\u2019s technically always going nuts on the field considering that he\u2019s only 5-foot-10 \u2013 probably 5-foot-7, at the most.\u00a0 On Sunday he made <a href=\"http:\/\/mlb.mlb.com\/video\/play.jsp?content_id=13609203\">one of the best plays<\/a> in the outfield (of that variety) that I\u2019ve ever seen.\u00a0 The pressure of the situation; the ground he covered; the full-extension and total disregard for his own well-being.\u00a0 Everything about it was simply amazing.<\/p>\n<p>I was watching the game live \u2013 I\u2019ll try to refrain from sharing my current thoughts on the White Sox, although I did just draw a picture of Juan Pierre and rip it up \u2013 and texting with one of the Sombrero\u2019s contributors, Rick, who is also a fan of the South Siders.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Anyway, after the catch he pointed me toward <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Sam_Fuld\">Fuld\u2019s wikipedia page<\/a>, which I must say, is quite possibly the most comprehensive page that Wikipedia has to offer.\u00a0 See for yourself\u2026if you have an extra 30 minutes to spare.\u00a0 I assume that Fuld hired somebody to create such a masterpiece, although my fingers remained crossed that it\u2019s actually an advance copy of his biography, \u201cWhere There\u2019s Aaron Miles, There\u2019s Hope.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>My favorite part is the third paragraph:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Fuld was drafted by the Chicago Cubs in 2004. He was an All Star two years later in the Florida State League. A year after that, he was voted the Most Valuable Player in the Arizona Fall League.<sup>[3][4]<\/sup> In the minors, as a result of his fearless defense, he was referred to as &#8220;a crash test dummy with a death wish&#8221;, a &#8220;human wrecking ball act,&#8221; a &#8220;wall magnet,&#8221; and a &#8220;manager&#8217;s dream and a trainer&#8217;s worst nightmare.&#8221;<sup>[5]<\/sup><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I actually really like Sam Fuld, and not in a \u2018I feel bad for the guy\u2019 way.\u00a0 If you\u2019ve actually read his\u00a0 page, he\u2019s had one hell of a career thus far; an absolute stud in high school, college (Stanford), and in the minor leagues.
