#14 Jameson Taillon \u2013 Pittsburgh Pirates<\/p>\n

Taillon has yet to throw a professional pitch, but the baseball world can\u2019t wait for him to begin what many envision a career headed for superstardom.\u00a0 The Woodlands, TX, native, and second overall selection in the 2011 draft, stands 6-foot-6 and has been clocked as high as 98 mph.\u00a0 His fastball already sits comfortably around 96 mph, and is regarded as a plus-plus pitch with upside, meaning that it could become one of the best pitches in the game. \u00a0He couples it with a deadly, tight slider that can run up to 88 mph with phenomenal tilt and sharpness.\u00a0 It was regarded as the single best pitch in the 2011 draft, and is also already double-plus.<\/p>\n

He throws a slower bender with more 12-6 action, but it is a little behind the slider and fastball at this point in his career.\u00a0 It has true 60 potential, though.\u00a0 The 19-year-old Taillon also throws a changeup with potential, but it is easily his worst pitch and is not quite average yet.\u00a0 It can get there, though.<\/p>\n

Taillon is athletic and has terrific projection, but he does not repeat his delivery well yet.\u00a0 He should develop plenty of polish before he appears at PNC, even though his command is also somewhat suspect at this point.\u00a0 His flaws are heavily outweighed by his enormous potential, and many scouts believe that he has a chance to be Josh Beckett<\/a><\/strong>.\u00a0 Taillon is the most talented pitcher to come out of a Texas high school in over a decade.<\/p>\n
