At 6-foot-5 and 210-pounds, and all of 19-years-old, Turner is far and away the best prospect in the Detroit Tigers\u2019 organization.\u00a0 He boasts a fastball that can reach the high-90\u2019s and sits in the mid-90\u2019s.\u00a0 It at least grades as plus right now, although it has the potential to improve as Turner\u2019s mechanics develop, especially because he does not pitch downhill enough yet to fully take advantage of his awesome size.<\/p>\n

His curveball and change are the best in the Tigers\u2019 system and have a chance to both be at least 60\u2019s in the Bigs.\u00a0 While his mechanics are a bit raw, they improved during his first season of professional ball in 2010.\u00a0 As the 9th<\/sup> overall selection in the 2009 Amateur Draft, the ceiling is absolutely sky-high for Turner, and his numbers suggest that he may arrive pretty quickly.\u00a0 At two stops in the low Minors last season, Turner threw up a 3.28 ERA with 102 K\u2019s and just 23 BB\u2019s in 115.1 innings.<\/p>\n

As a 19-year-old, the guy averaged just one walk per start.\u00a0 That number is staggeringly good, and Turner has already demonstrated the ability to keep the ball in the yard — a skill that will only be accentuated at Comerica.\u00a0 Turner is at least a Big League #2 in terms of projection, and the Tigers look to have a quadruplet of stud right-handers in Justin Verlander<\/a><\/strong>, Turner, Max Scherzer<\/a><\/strong>, and Rick Porcello<\/a><\/strong> by 2013 or \u201914.<\/p>\n
