#26 Jason Kipnis<\/a><\/strong> – Cleveland Indians<\/p>\n

Despite being of relatively small stature at 5-foot-10 and 175-pounds, the former Arizona State standout — as well as the Pac-10 Player of the Year — is a ballplayer.\u00a0 His best tool is his bat, which he couples well with an excellent eye and plate discipline.\u00a0 His slash line of .307\/.386\/.492 in two Minor League seasons\u00a0 is especially appealing when one considers that Kipnis has a very realistic chance at a 50 grade in the field as well.\u00a0 At this point, his feet are behind his hands on defense and likely always will be, but they are improving.<\/p>\n

He has phenomenal baseball instincts and works very, very hard.\u00a0 He is aggressive, intelligent, and makes the most of the talent he has.\u00a0 With 16 jacks and 56 total hits for extra bases between two levels in 2010, Kipnis profiles as a plus hitter relative to his position.\u00a0 He profiles as an average runner and athlete, but certainly not below.<\/p>\n

Kipnis is the kind of prospect we love at the Sombrero – Mike even played against him in high school<\/a>.\u00a0 He excelled for a baseball powerhouse in an excellent conference, he does not make many stupid mistakes, his performance represents an optimization of his potential, and he outworks everyone else on the field.\u00a0 Although Kipnis has only one tool that grades above a 50, he has none that grade below it.\u00a0 And as a 2B, he has a chance at some All-Star games.<\/p>\n

We should see him in Cleveland later this year.<\/p>\n
