#38 Jenrry Mejia<\/a><\/strong> – New York Mets<\/p>\n

Jenrry Mejia has a fastball that reaches the mid-90’s but consistently works a couple ticks lower with excellent arm-side action and a capable breaker with room to grow.\u00a0 Mejia began the 2010 season with the big club as a reliever, but was sent to Double-A in June to convert to a starter.\u00a0 His numbers at four stops as a starter were outstanding before a September callup in which he struggled.\u00a0 In a different organization, one might expect Mejia to grow and flourish and potentially crack an All-Star roster or two, but the Mets are notorious for fumbling with pitching talent, and I would be surprised if Mejia ever throws up an ERA near 3.50.<\/p>\n

Take for instance the fact that they wasted the first half of his season with Mejia sitting in the bullpen, and didn’t realize that they were blowing it until June.\u00a0 Now Mejia likely will need a season in Triple-A because he only tossed about 100 innings in 2010.\u00a0 Maybe while he is there he can work on his changeup.\u00a0 If he can master that at any time, I think he can be a good 2 in the Majors.\u00a0 He definitely still has age on his side, and while his delivery is a tad on the violent side, nothing screams injury.\u00a0 The Mets sure could use a quality starter so my guess is they rush him, and he has Tommy John within the next three years.<\/p>\n
