This afternoon, news surfaced that the Chicago White Sox had offered a \u201crunner-up\u201d package, centered around Gordon Beckham<\/a><\/strong>, to the Boston Red Sox in exchange for slugger Adrian Gonzalez<\/a><\/strong>.\u00a0 Um, wow.\u00a0 [HardballTalk<\/a>]<\/p>\n

Speaking of the Blue Jays, they traded Shaun Marcum<\/a><\/strong> to the Milwaukee Brewers for 20-year old prospect Brett Lawrie<\/a><\/strong>.\u00a0 It\u2019s a good move for both organizations, but in the end, I think the Brewers win considering that Marcum is only 29 and that both his velocity and mix of pitches are best suited for the National League. A lot of people have been trashing the St. Louis Cardinals signing of Lance Berkman<\/a><\/strong>.\u00a0 Although it may not be the best idea to play him in the outfield, Lance Berkman for $8 million is a pretty nice, off-season acquisition. [Seamheads<\/a>]
