{"id":1049,"date":"2010-09-22T08:12:45","date_gmt":"2010-09-22T13:12:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/thegoldensombrero.com\/wordpress\/?p=1049"},"modified":"2010-09-22T08:12:45","modified_gmt":"2010-09-22T13:12:45","slug":"gavin-floyd-likely-to-be-shut-down-for-season","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/thegoldensombrero.com\/wordpress\/archives\/1049","title":{"rendered":"Gavin Floyd Likely To Be Shut Down For Season"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/thegoldensombrero.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/gavinfloyd.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-1050\" title=\"83027955CC005_Tampa_Bay_Ray\" src=\"http:\/\/thegoldensombrero.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/gavinfloyd-200x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"202\" height=\"236\" \/><\/a>\ufeff\ufeffIt is doubtful that <strong>Chicago White Sox<\/strong> starting pitcher <strong>Gavin Floyd<\/strong> will pitch again in 2010, following an unexpected early exit from his start against the Oakland A\u2019s on Monday night.\u00a0 Floyd threw just 7 pitches before leaving the game due to soreness behind his pitching shoulder, a discomfort that apparently might have affected his previous start against the Twins.\u00a0 On Thursday, Floyd will travel to Los Angeles to have his shoulder examined by the Angels team physician, <strong>Dr. Lewis Yocum<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Now that the Minnesota Twins have clinched the American League Central, the White Sox are likely to shut down Floyd for the remainder of the season and allow him to properly heal and prepare for 2011.\u00a0 Neither Floyd nor White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen have seemed particularly optimistic about the right-hander\u2019s lingering shoulder discomfort.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ll probably take all precautionary measures.\u00a0 I don\u2019t feel like it\u2019s anything serious, but it wasn\u2019t getting any better when I was throwing.\u00a0 Every pitch it seemed like it was getting worse.\u00a0 We\u2019re just treating it and taking it day-by-day,\u201d Floyd stated.<\/p>\n<p>He also acknowledged that after his September 15<sup>th<\/sup> start against the Twins, he \u201cfelt a little sore, not normal soreness.\u201d\u00a0 In that start, Floyd lasted 5.1 innings, allowing 6 runs on 9 hits with 2 BB and 4 strikeouts.\u00a0 The White Sox lost the must-win home game at U.S. Cellular Field, 9-3, while Floyd was saddled with the loss.<\/p>\n<p>Perhaps the discomfort in his shoulder was even an issue prior to his start against the Twins;
